The Price of a High Paying Job
The US Department of Labor has identified the top 10 highest paying careers as to include surgeon, anesthesiologist, obstetrician/gynecologist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, internist, prosthodontist, orthodontist, psychiatrist, chief executive officer, and engineering manager. Following closely are pediatrician, family or general practitioner, physician/surgeon, airline pilot, dentist, podiatrist, lawyer, other medical specialist, air traffic controller, and computer and information systems manager. This should put to rest the common notion that actors and athletes hold the highest paid careers.
Actors and athletes are highly paid alright but their rates can only be considered on a short-term basis such as per project or per season. For everyday people who may not have that elusive chance at entertainment or athletic fame, the highest paying careers are reached through careful planning. Planning starts with programming educational plans to synch with career plans. Changing minds at the middle may result to wasted time in pursuing an entirely different course of study. If one has to really opt for change, he/she must be clear at least on the general scope such as the medical field, technology field, law and others. This will ensure that a student will be taking related courses that can be used in whatever specialization will be decided on later.
There is a reason why certain jobs are now ranked as the highest paying careers. These careers provide rewarding financial returns because it also required tremendous input from people in the form of hard work, many years of experience and extensive education. They are occupying the most enviable positions because of the very fact that it is very difficult to attain the qualifications for these jobs. It is quite obvious that most of these jobs are in the medical field which requires the longest period of training and heaviest responsibility of saving lives. Students who are now in the process of choosing their career paths should not only consider the dollar figure and determine for themselves if they are up to the tremendous work ahead.
